MY STORY

Howdy! I’m Sydney Koval, and at my core, I believe that design has the power to shape a better world. My journey in fashion merchandising and sustainable product innovation isn’t just about aesthetics—it’s about creating solutions that are kinder to people and the planet. I’ve always been someone who cares deeply, whether it’s for the environment, the communities behind the products we wear, or the people I collaborate with.

I approach everything I do with compassion, integrity, and purpose—from designing sustainable footwear with TREAD, to creating a nostalgic yet forward-thinking brand with Reminisce, to helping customers find gear that aligns with their values at Great Outdoor Provision Co.

Through my studies at VCU’s School of the Arts and the Da Vinci Center, I’ve worked to merge sustainability, ethics, and design into something meaningful. Learning from Indigenous artisans in Oaxaca, Mexico, I saw firsthand how craftsmanship and sustainability can coexist, reinforcing my belief that fashion should honor tradition, culture, and the earth.

At the heart of my work is a simple but powerful idea: design should do good. Whether through ethical sourcing, innovative materials, or thoughtful storytelling, I want to help brands push the boundaries of sustainability and create products that inspire change. If my work can make even a small impact—reducing waste, supporting artisans, or shifting mindsets—then I know I’m on the right path.
